Maryville Estates

Marry Riggs
Ann Burke

Named in tribute to one of the earliest settlers in the region, Maryville Estates is steeped in local history. In the 1830s, the Burke, Carroll, and Hefferman families ventured to what is now known as Beeville, a largely unsettled land inhabited solely by local Native Americans. Although not all families weathered the challenges of colonization, those who did have continued the legacy of the early settlers for generations.

In 1858, Ann Burke Carroll, Patrick Carroll, and Patrick Burke generously donated the land on which the current town of Beeville stands. Originally christened “Maryville” in honor of Mrs. Mary Hefferman Riggs, a member of the original Hefferman family, the town’s name underwent a change to “Beeville” when military forces, led by Col. Barnard E. Bee, took charge.

Our property proudly bears the name in homage to these original settlers, and we take pride in recounting this rich history. We express gratitude for the donation made by Mrs. Anne Burke Carroll and others, and we are honored to share their heroic and generous tale.
